The Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship was established by Google in 2004 to honor Dr. Anita Borg, a computer science pioneer who dedicated her life to changing the way we think about diversity and technology. Anita’s namesake scholarship continues to support women completing degrees in computer science and related areas, recognizing and encouraging the next generation of technical leaders and role models.
2010 marks an important milestone for the Anita Borg program: for the first time ever, students at Sub-Saharan African universities were invited to apply. This year, Google awarded a total of two scholarships and two finalist positions to female Sub-Saharan African students, representing three countries and four universities.
In addition to academic funding, scholars and finalists will be invited to participate in an all-expenses-paid networking retreat featuring workshops, speakers, panelists, breakout sessions and social activities at Google’s EMEA engineering headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland.

Présentation des boursières et finalistes Anita Borg Afrique Google 2010
L’Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship a été créée par Google en 2004 pour rendre hommage au Dr Anita Borg, pionnière de l’informatique, qui a dédié sa vie au changement de nos mentalités sur la diversité et la technologie. La bourse qui porte son nom poursuit son action : elle aide des femmes qui suivent des études dans les domaines de l’informatique et des technologies, reconnaissant et encourageant ainsi la nouvelle génération de modèles et leaders technologiques.
2010 marque une étape importante dans le programme Anita Borg : pour la première fois, des étudiantes d’universités sub-sahariennes ont été invitées à soumettre leur candidature. Cette année, Google a attribué deux bourses et deux positions de finalistes à des étudiantes africaines sub-sahariennes, représentant trois pays et quatre universités.
Outre le financement de leurs études, les boursières et finalistes seront invitées à participer tous frais payés à un séminaire de réseau comportant des ateliers, des conférences, des interventions et des rencontres au centre d’ingénierie EMEA de Google à Zurich en Suisse.
